Need to know

What you need to know before your wellbeing walk

Who is it for?

You will be guided through a series of invitations (nature exercises) in the woods that aim to relax you and deepen your connection and love of nature. No prior experience or nature knowledge needed and don’t worry, you’re only bathing in the atmosphere of the forest… no water involved!

The group sessions are for those over 16 years of age, anyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. If you would like to arrange a wellbeing walk for the younger members in your family please contact Joss for a private session.

What to Wear

Due to potentially harmful animals, such as ticks, and plants, such as brambles, please adhere to this list even in warm weather. Due to the slowness of walking in the session and the lower temperature in the woods, always bring more layers than you think you need.

  • Long trousers
  • Socks (long enough to tuck trousers into)
  • Waterproof, closed toe, boots or walking shoes
  • Coat, hat and gloves (in cold weather)
  • Please avoid wearing strongly scented lotions or perfumes, as they will distract from the natural scents around us
  • Try leaving your watch at home, Joss will be timekeeping.

What to Bring

Some items in this list are seasonal but British weather can be unpredictable, so use your discretion

  • A rucksack
  • Water
  • Snacks, for if you get peckish
  • Pack lunch
  • Sun lotion
  • Insect repellent
  • You may want to leave your phone at home, or put it out of reach, on silent, in your rucksack
  • Waterproof coat (and trousers if you have some)
  • An extra layer
  • Tissues, hand sanitiser and a plastic bag
  • You may wish to bring a sketchpad, pencil and magnifying glass, if you have one.

You will be provided with a straw mat to sit on, but you are welcome to bring something of your own, e.g. a yoga mat, or you may want to bring a camping chair if you are unable to sit on the ground.

Facilities and Accessibility

There is a car park, toilet and hand washing facilities at LOCATION TBC, but it is recommended to bring tissues and hand sanitiser for wild wees, just in case. Please take away the tissues with you, so you may want to bring a plastic bag or something to separate them from the rest of your belongings.

You may be invited to sit or lay on the ground, kneel, bend, walk guided with your eyes closed. Terrain may be uneven and muddy, and will be covered in leaf litter and detritus.

If you have access needs or special requirements, please contact Joss
